Rambha aka Amrita aka Vijayalakshmi has been one of the most successful actresses of her generation. For close to two decades, she ruled South Indian screen and acted opposite almost all the South Indian superstars. She has made her presence felt in the North as well, with several successful films in Hindi, Bhojpuri and Bengali to her credit.

Vijayalakshmi was born Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh on June 5, 1976. Her first screen name was Amritha, she later changed it to Rambha.

She made her debut with 'Sargam', a Malayalam film directed by Hariharan. Her co-stars were Vineeth and Manoj K Jayan.
